Childhood Cancer

Pearl –Because September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, I thought I’d introduce you to our precious friend Pearl Elizabeth. She’s three, loves to dress up, dance, watch princess movies and loves cheese sticks. She also has leukemia.

The amazing thing is that Pearl was given a 50/50 chance to live when she was in her mom’s belly. Not because of leukemia, which she didn’t have yet, but because of CDH (Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia). It’s a birth defect of the diaphragm. All the organs shift up to the chest cavity, where the lungs grow. This fight for her life left Pearl with just one lung and a patch covering up a hole in her diaphragm. But she survived.

Doctors at Texas Children’s Hospital have never seen a little angel like this, who survived CDH and then got leukemia. The two are unrelated, and only God knows why Pearl has battled both. Truly, He has amazing plans for this precious warrior!

Pearl’s parents have a relationship with God that I truly admire. They are optimistic, vibrant, gracious, generous and compassionate. There is no doubt in my mind that it is through the many prayers prayed that Pearl has survived.

This coming October she will have a Birthday Benefit and I’m helping as much as I can to organize it. PLEASE… if you have a business that might be interested in donating ANYTHING at all, please contact me and we will place your name in our pamphlet, Facebook page (PRAYING FOR PEARL ELIZABETH) and other materials to be distributed to guests. We are anticipating approximately 200 people, and her Facebook page has over 1,000 likes.

If you want to help a local family during this tough time, please consider making a donation. May we raise awareness and find a cure for childhood cancer! And bless these little souls that are bravely fighting with smiles on their faces.
